This Is How The Fairy Tale Really Goes...

Once there was a little girl who was very much loved and adored by her family. She was the only grand child and her aunts and uncles doted on her constantly. It was a special treat every year though, and the time she most looked forward to, when this little girl got to go shopping for new school clothes and supplies with her grandmother. From a very young age the little girl was kind of spoiled, but she was still a very good little girl so it was not a problem. The little girl's grandmother had a part time job at a Liz Claiborne store and this was the little girl's favorite store to shop at. She was tall for her age, even at eight years old, so she could already wear the 'petite' clothes from the women's section. The little girl would race from rack to rack to find the perfect clothes for school, and shopping with her grandmother was a tradition they had started when she was in Kindergarten. The year they little girl was eight, she was in third grade and she found a pair of shorts that she fell in love with immediately. Regardless of whatever else was purchased that day, the little girl knew she must must must have those shorts. Of course they found their way into one of her many shopping bags and she fell asleep that night, exhausted from all the trying on of clothes and shoes and so on.

When school started the little girl was very excited. She knew what she was going to wear and could not wait to be in third grade. One day she was wearing her favorite new shorts and her class was going outside for P.E. Their gym teacher asked the students to sit down on the ground so she could explain the new activity they were going to do. The little girl quietly moved to the back to stand behind her classmates so not to block their view. This time the teacher asked the little girl directly by name to sit down and do you know the little girl's response?

She looked her teacher straight in the eye and said innocently but seriously, "Oh I can't sit down, these are Liz Claiborne shorts."

My stunned P.E. teacher let me stand for the remainder of the class period.

Thanks :) Isn't it funny how certain things trigger your memory? It was something I hadn't thought of in ages and at home the other weekend it just came back to me. I don't think I will ever forget the look on my teacher's face though, it was priceless.
